Satellite Communication Systems
Lecture programme: satellite and ground segments; modulation, channel encoding and multiple access protocols used in satellite communications; elements of the design of a satellite system, the creation of the energy balance of the satellite link; multi-beam system; satellite OBP (On-Board-Processing) technology; overview of systems using artificial satellites of the Earth: VSAT networks, DVB systems, radio communication systems, personal, broadband systems, satellite navigation systems.

Wireless Systems and Networks
First part of the course is dedicated to fundamentals of telecommunication and covers basic wireless transmission issues. Radio channel characteristic, transmission techniques (modulation, coding, multiple access) used in wireless systems are described.
Next parts are related to wireless networks implementation. Systems architecture, technical specifications and applications are described. Description starts with Wireless Personal Area Networks, then Local Area Networks, Metropolitan and Wide Area Networks are discussed.
